Car Burglary at Ocean Beach on Saturday, July 28, 2007

Another car burglary happened at Ocean Beach (San Francisco) while the car's owner was out in the water. The incident occurred on Sat., July 28th between 9:30 and 10:30 A. M. in the parking lot across the street from the Beach Chalet.

This burglary was yet another incidence of the "Hide-A-Key" thieves spying on surfers suiting up, and noting if and where the car key is "hidden" by the car owner. In this case, the thieves drove the car to the very end of the parking lot and abandoned it there with the keys on the floor, but had stolen the owner's phone and spare change from the front of the car and cash from his wallet located in the trunk. All other belongings, including clothes and board bag were conscientiously left alone by the thieves.

DO NOT "HIDE" YOUR KEY ON YOUR CAR WHILE YOU SURF! CARRY THE KEY WITH YOU!

If you have any information about this burglary, or witness one in progress, immediately contact the SFPD.
