The Big Stick Surfing Association of Santa Cruz is hosting a competition clinic on Sat., Feb. 23rd at Manresa State Beach in Aptos.

Come on out to get the low down on competition surfing, just in time for the upcoming Logjam and the other coalition contests happening this spring and summer. You'll learn wave selection strategy, what the judges are looking for, the rules, and how to strategize before and during the heat.

Clinic will include:

• Beach instruction
• Mock heats
• Judging a heat yourself
• Demonstrations

The hours of the clinic are from 9:00 A.M. to about 11:30 A.M. Be sure to call ahead before the clinic starts on Saturday morning, in case the venue changes due to surf conditions: (408) 460-7673. There will be beach sign-ups.

Suggested donation: $20; $10 for students
