On Sat., Dec. 16th, 2006, at approximately noon, while paddling out south of Mushroom Rock at Maverick's, a surfer lost his 9'6" Brewer gun. The board is white, has a three-color rainbow drawing on the deck (yellow, green, and brown), going from the tail to the middle of the board, turning around and closing on the bottom. Also, it has a Dick Brewer logo on the nose and "BREWER" written on both sides below the nose.

A 6' 10" Tom Eberly-shaped shortboard in a board bag was stolen from outside an Inner Richmond district (San Francisco) house on Mon., Jan. 29th. "Eberly" is printed across the nose and the board has an obvious nose repair job, but otherwise is in excellent shape.

SurfPulse was notified of yet another car theft from the Sloat Blvd. parking lot on Sat., Dec. 30th at approximately 8:30 A.M. Reports of car burglary and car theft have become more common in the Ocean Beach area over the last year.

Here's the perfect Christmas stocking stuffer and Hanukah gift for the grommets and their parents. In 1998, Jonathan Kathrein was attacked by a great white shark at Stinson Beach. Now at age 24, Mr. Kathrein has published a children's book, Don't Fear the Shark, illustrated by childhood friend Rob Singler, Jr.

Based on his experience with the shark attack and his later, and continuing, efforts at teaching conflict resolution, Mr. Kathrein and Mr. Singler have created a book that pursue and combine the themes of environmental care, personal responsibility, and conflict resolution.

A car was reported stolen on Thurs., Nov. 30th from Lawton and Great Highway at Ocean Beach. The police told the victim that two other cars were stolen from the area earlier that day. There have been numerous reports of cars that are broken into at Ocean Beach.

Another reminder from SurfPulse to not "hide" your car key on the car. Take your key with you in your wetsuit keypocket when you surf. Also, if you see someone acting suspiciously, or in the act of a crime, do not confront the suspect(s) yourself, but call the police immediately and be prepared to give details of location and suspects' appearance, vehicles, and license plate numbers.

A wetsuit was found on Sat., Nov. 18th on Old Great Highway around 1 P.M. Medium-size and zipperless.

On Friday night, Nov. 3rd, Chasing Dora, featuring Mickey Munoz and Wingnut, will screen at the Rio Theater in Santa Cruz. This screening is a fundraiser for Ride a Wave and Jacob's Heart.

Doors open at 6:00 P.M. with the movie starting around 7:00 P.M. Tickets are $10 and there is a surfboard raffle after the movie. Tickets may be purchased in advance at O'Neill stores, Arrow, Freeline Design, and Paradise surf shops.

On Sat., Oct. 7th, between 9:00 and 11:00 A.M., a silver Subaru wagon was broken into at the Sloat Blvd. parking lot. The victim believes that the perpetrator(s) saw him leave his key in the wheel well of his car. When he returned from his surf session, his key was in the same place he left it, but his wallet and money clip were gone from his pants. Later, a credit card was used at a gas station.

It's the second-round battle between the King of the Surf Guitar, Dick Dale, and the surf rock band, Drifting Sand.

Drifting Sand will be opening up for Dick Dale on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at The Blank Club in San Jose. After being easily defeated in their first surf battle at Slim’s, Drifting Sand return for round two in what promises to be a classic night of surfpop, shake ‘n’ stomp. The Wiggle Wagons add some country shred to the mix.

Cheer on the groms, women, and men-in-drag competing in The 4th Annual 2006 NorCal Women's Surf Club Surf Fest being held at Linda Mar Beach in Pacifica on Sunday, September 3, 2006. There also will be hourly raffles and some surf clinics offered throughout the day.

Mollusk Surf Shop hosts a Nick Allen Photography show on Saturday, August 12th from 7:00-10:00 P.M., and includes water shots from Ocean Beach to Nicaragua. Music by The Battle and Relief, Michael Musica, and City Mouth Country Mouth. The show is FREE.
