Offshore Oil Drilling Public Hearing in San Francisco on Thursday, April 16, 2009

On Thurs., April 16, one of only two West Coast public hearings will be held to gather public comment on the potential of drilling for more oil in our local oceans. The other event is in Alaska, so this is the one to attend!

Surfrider is doing everything we can to rally the troops to come out against this proposal. If you can spare the time and care about the future of our local oceans, please come out to support our cause and speak your mind!

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will host a public meeting in San Francisco on April 16th, 2009 to present the Interior’s findings on Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) energy resources and potential environmental impacts from their development. At the meetings, the Secretary will also hear comment from public officials, interested organizations, advocacy groups and private citizens on OCS’s development. 

If persons cannot attend in person, or are unable to speak at the meetings, they are welcome to submit written statements, comments or documents, either at the meeting or during the extended public comment period. 
Written comments can be either submitted at the meeting or electronically throughout the extended public comment period.
