Skate Art Show Reception/Auction in San Francisco on Saturday, April 17, 2010

“Skate This Art” is showing now until the end of the month and is in its third year at Gallery 28 in San Francisco’s North Beach (1228 Grant Ave.), a show with decorated skateboard decks by artists ages 6–91.

Participating artists include: Ed Hardy, Winston Smith, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Jason Norelli, Paul Norman, Jeremy Fish, Anna-Lisa Stardust van der Valk, Brandon Swinehart,  and more! Signed decks by Tony Hawk, Pete Ramondetta, John Cardiel, and more items to be raffled and auctioned off during receptions.

On Sat., April 17, 6:00–9:00 PM, a reception will be held at the gallery: beverages, auction and sales of skateboard art, raffles , and five short documentaries:  premieres of  “Girls on Girls” (new doc on women punk music pioneers of late ’70’s – early ’80’s SF music scene) by Patrick O’Neil  and “Skate this Art – Make This Art” by Geo Epsilanty; the return of  “Hit the Decks” by Caleb Gatlin and “YAA Girlz and the Deadly Sparks” by Patrick O’Neil (doc about all female skate-punk clubs of SF in early ’80’s), and “DIY” by Chris Silva.

This is not a juried show. We put up the skateboard art, and then let the audience decide for themselves what they consider ‘art’! Equal opportunity art! Proceeds benefit North Beach Citizens center.

SFGate ran an article about the show, too.
